What we do
Essbro are an Import/Export Trading company based in Rochford Essex. We deal in raw materials to the Food, Flavour, Perfumery and Pharmaceutical Trade. Main products are Arrowroot, Tamarind Concentrate, Curry Powder and English grown and distilled Essential Oils. Essbro are accredited with ISO 9001:2015. Our Suppliers are accredited with Food Grade certification either FSSC or BRC.
The Company is under the day to day control of its two Directors and is extremely flexible, able to cater for Individual customers requirements particularly in the Starch and Indian Spices sector.

Our History
Essbro was incorporated as a limited Company in 1939 as a subsidiary of Bruce Starke & Co. Ltd. Initially the Company dealt as a manufacturer and dealer in Essential Oil Terpenes and other Oil by products, with offices in the City of London and a Distillery in Eye, Suffolk. In the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s the Company was mainly involved in cleaning, filtering and rectification of Essential Oils as well as distillation of Imported Seed Oils.
In 1993, Michael Starke, sold Bruce Starke & Co. who had become mainly involved in Natural Fibre Floorcoverings. They moved the entire Floorcovering Operation to Eye with Essbro remaining in Rochford, which by then was the administrative centre for the two Companies.
All products guaranteed 100% pure and natural and supplied to the perfumery, flavouring, aromatherapy and cosmetic trades. Kosher Certified.
Essbro took on the Arrowroot, Oils and Produce side of the Business to run as a completely independent Company under the control of Michael Starke, Maureen Starke and Bob Gambier.
Bob retired in March 2006 after 48 years with the Company, being succeeded by Debbie Woods, great Grand Daughter of the founder Mr. A. Bruce Starke.
